Between Hills and Time
by Margo Myers
I wanted to paint something really calm, so I started playing with blues and greens until this river scene began to take shape. I wasn’t trying to make it overly detailed—just letting the brush and the paint find that easy, flowing feeling. The water came first, and once I had that soft movement going, the rest of the landscape kind of settled in around it.
The sky was fun to work on because I kept it loose, just enough clouds to give it some depth without getting fussy. The hills and grasses on the sides are more about suggestion than accuracy, but they frame the river in a way that feels peaceful.
Seeing it framed makes it feel finished in a different way—like the quiet mood I was aiming for really comes through. It’s just a simple, steady landscape, but it has that relaxed energy I was hoping for.
